Art&Me |
An artsy teen that draws too much, jokes around too much, and puts her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Call me Julie, boo. |

*cries, dies, revives, giggles, adds to spam*
I’d laugh so hard if Plec was in the background, just staring all intense-like.
I am black. African American. Colored. A Negro. Or whatever other word, racist or not, used to describe a black person.
——
I am sickened by the News. Racial conflicts everywhere, and all I can do is pray. Pray that the Lord returns soon.
——
I believe in racial equality. I also believe that it won’t happen any time soon.
——
The news of Trayvon Martin, the teenager shot and killed walking home or to a friends house after a trip to the store in Florida, has just widened my eyes. I am a 16 year old black female. I wear hoodies. I eat candy. I walk to places during the day and sometimes the evening as well. Super suspicious, right?
As much as I want to think this has nothing to do with race, I can’t say it hasn’t crossed my mind. Heck, it constantly crosses my mind. “It’s because he was black, if the situation was reversed it would have been dealt with by now.” Sure, this country has improved. Blacks have rights, and Mexicans, and Asians. But at what cost? Shoot, I couldn’t even tell you how many times I’ve been called “n****r” in school or all the racist jokes I’ve heard. And all I can do is report it and try to brush it off.
——
I don’t spend too much time on the computer anymore. Why? I sometimes get hurt by the racist comments I see on YouTube videos, Tweets on Twitter, posts on FB, and so on. People saying that Trayvon “had it coming”, and trying to make it seem that it was because of the way he was dressed not because of his skin color. That’s bull s**t.
——
When I was younger I used to wish I weren’t black, it seemed a lot easier to be any other race. But with all the stories like this one, and yes I know there are more stories, I am HAPPY I was born Black. Although I’m sad about this boy being murdered at such a young age, I hope he’s in heaven. The suffering is over.
——
I wish nothing bad on the man who shot and killed Trayvon Martin. All I want to say is, “What’s done in the dark WILL be brought to the light”.

So, could you look me, or anyone of any race, in the eyes and tell them: “You have nothing to live for”?
:) Have a pleasant day.
